Palestine history

June 5 – 10, 1967

The Six-Day War, in#nbsp;which Israel defeats the combined armies of#nbsp;Egypt, Syria, and Jordan, and occupies the West Bank, East Jerusalem, the Gaza Strip, the Golan Heights, and the Sinai Peninsula.
Hark, good people, lend me#nbsp;thine ears,
For I#nbsp;bring tidings of#nbsp;a#nbsp;great strife and fears.
In#nbsp;the year of#nbsp;our Lord, nineteen hundred sixty-seven,
A#nbsp;war that would shake the very foundation of#nbsp;heaven.
The Six-Day War, they did call it, a#nbsp;battle so#nbsp;dire,
As#nbsp;Israel faced foes with sword and fire.
Egypt, Syria, and Jordan, their armies combined,
With intentions to#nbsp;vanquish, but fate was unkind.
For six long days, the armies did fight,
As#nbsp;bullets and bombs filled the day and night.
The West Bank, East Jerusalem, Gaza, and more,
Were seized by#nbsp;Israel, a#nbsp;victory to#nbsp;adore.
The Golan Heights, too, fell to#nbsp;their might,
As#nbsp;their enemies' efforts were put to#nbsp;flight.
And the Sinai Peninsula, now under their command,
As#nbsp;the Arab world lay wounded, a#nbsp;tragic demand.
Yet, as#nbsp;with all battles, victory brings pain,
And the aftermath, a#nbsp;price that’s not in#nbsp;vain.
For the people of#nbsp;Palestine, a#nbsp;great sorrow,
As#nbsp;their land and homes were taken with little tomorrow.
The Six-Day War, a#nbsp;tale of#nbsp;triumph and loss,
Of#nbsp;heroes and villains, of#nbsp;a#nbsp;heavy cost.
May we#nbsp;remember this history, and learn from its ways,
And seek peace in#nbsp;all our coming days.
