September 13, 1993

The Oslo Accords, a peace agreement between the PLO and Israel, is signed in Washington, D.C.
Oh, September 13th, a fateful day indeed,
When two foes came together, in hopes to succeed,
In crafting a peace, that would end their strife,
And bring an end to a long and painful life.
In Washington, D.C., they signed the accord,
The PLO and Israel, with one accord,
To end the violence, and to pave the way,
For a future of peace, and a brighter day.
And as they shook hands, and smiled with grace,
The world looked on, in awe of this embrace,
For it was a moment, of hope and light,
That banished the darkness, and dispelled the night.
But alas, it was not to last, for long,
As both sides struggled, with right and wrong,
And the peace that was promised, was never found,
And the wounds of the past, still left a profound.
Oh, September 13th, a day that we recall,
When peace was promised, but never came at all,
May we learn from this, and strive for a better fate,
And work towards a future, that’s free from hate.
